I wish to be the little robot.

Music has never defined my life, but I have quite an appreciation for it.  There are two things that I really enjoy about music, the rhythm and lyrics.  I don’t understand new genre approaches or that tomfoolery.  Rather, I enjoy a good beat and if the lyrics mean something all the better.

When first listening to the album, I didn’t think it was anything special really but that’s usually the case for most things.  It takes time for things to grow on me; in regards to this album, it didn’t take too long at all.  The first one that caught my attention was ‘Hop on a Plane’.  It was the fast paced beat that caught me at first, but it has wonderful lyrics once opened my ears a bit more.  Sad though; it makes me want to give Tegan a hug.

‘Call It Off’ is probably my second favorite.  I really enjoy how the instrumentals create a nice backdrop to Tegan’s vocals.  Queue up another hug for Tegan.

Anyways, I stumbled upon this little interview when I should’ve been studying:

Interviewer: And so how did it end?
Tegan: I mean it’s over, I mean… never happened.
Sara: They didn’t hit that shit.
Tegan: I didn’t…
Sara: Say it, it’s okay, it’s part of the therapy.
Tegan: No it really wasn’t about “hitting that shit” I really wanted to like marry the person. I was in a very desperate state.
Sara: You wanted to hit that shit and get married.
Tegan: Yeah.

They’re so awesome.  Sara is awesome girlfriend material; Tegan is wife material.  I hope you both get to hit that shit and get married.

So I just recently watched Porco Rosso and it jumped The Cat Returns as my favorite Ghibli film.  I think I’ve come to the conclusion that I enjoy the more lighthearted Ghibli films. It became more concrete after I watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.  I mean, Nausicaa was good.  It probably is on the same tier as Princess Mononoke which is above most of the more recent Ghibli films like Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, but I didn’t get the same feeling throughout the movie.

I think it was the characters in Porco Rosso that did it for me.  They probably weren’t the deepest of characters, but they did their job well.  Porco is the suave guy that I wish I was, and Fio is just a bag of smiles.  I have a slight weakness for those types of girls.  I could empathize with Gina; her character was a nice foil to the young Fio.  The Japanese VA’s did a perfect job.  The deep manly gruff voice of Porco was fitting for his smooth lines.  Gina was wonderfully seductive and Fio a delight.

Having a well defined setting probably helped as well.  There wasn’t any time wasted to immerse the viewer into the world.  From the get go, it was just a playful movie.  Maybe it was just what I needed after a stressful week.  Regardless, it’s a must watch movie.  It’ll probably get another viewing from me before the year is over.

I have nothing to say really, but I’ve wanted to use this photo for a while.  Maybe whenever school lets up, my brain will want to function again.  One more semester!

Oh also visit and read this comic if you haven’t already.  I find it just hilarious; it has a combination of ridiculousness and subtlety that I really enjoy.

Well, you know, a lot of different things happen in life.  Any regrets?  Of course, if I said that I didn’t have any, it would be a lie.  I’m still very, very young. I want to go out shopping and eat a lot more of the different yummy foods out there and listen to music and stuff, you know?

Oh, yes, and, of course, even a wonderful romance.  If could have that, it would really be the best.  Really… the best.

But the way I feel right now, “Oh well,” is all I can say.

Really.

Oh well.

If, after this ends, someone were to tell me “It’s okay to live”, I’d buy just one small mirror and practice smiling.  I’d practice over and over, to meet you again.

Maybe, if someone were to tell me “It’s okay to live without hurting anyone”, I’d pull back my hair as it tossed in the wind, and I’d take a giant step.  I’d push out my chest and go see him.  I want to live… I want to tell him “Thank you”.  I want to live to show him my feelings.  I want to live!

It would’ve been better if I hadn’t discovered this feeling…

You know, there are few shows that have me longing for affection but Eureka 7 probably hits me the hardest.  As of late, I’ve been quite content with my life.  I’m about to graduate college so it is a volatile time for someone who enjoys the comfort of routine.  Efforts have been focused on finishing up classes, looking for jobs, thinking about the future and whatnot.  No time or energy for a relationship, I have to establish a good foundation for the rest of my life!  That’s what I tell myself anyways.

After spending the past weekend re-watching Eureka 7, I remember how I’d love to have a girl to dote on.  How smiles are wonderful things.  Hook arms as we walk, darling!  Sure, it’s a bit hard to walk when you’re leaning on me, but I’ll let it slide this time.  Eureka 7 is a display of innocent romance, however naive it might be, that I enjoy.  That’s why I have zero qualms about the unbelievably corny ending.  Engravings on trees is nothing compared to the face of the moon.  As embarrassing as it would be to see that every day, I’d be grinning from ear to ear.

Anemone was right.  A wonderful romance would be the best.  Really.  The best.

But right now, “Oh well,” is all I can afford to say.

Really.

Oh well.

Thoughts that I wouldn’t mind people knowing, though I’m not one to go out of my way to show it to people.  It’s my soft underbelly; my feelings are quite a distance from my sleeve.  I don’t actually expect anyone to read which is fine by me, but if you can find some entertainment out of this, that would be great too.  I wonder how long I will last.  Long enough to discover that I’ve changed, hopefully.
